London Goings On
I start my new job tomorrow! I’m nervous but ready (to start receiving a paycheck again). In my final days of freedom, I’ve been running around, enjoying all this great city has to offer. While I wanted to write more at length about certain things, I should probably get ready for bed, so I’ll share some photos and add more later.
Snow in Soho (preceded by dim sum at Beijing Dumpling). Brian, Kelly, Indiya, Yupeng.
“If You Don’t Let Us Dream, We Won’t Let You Sleep” at the Royal Court.
“The Royal Court was Britain’s first national theatre company, and has held firm to its vision of being a writers theatre. Its plays have challenged the artistic, social and political orthodoxy of the day, pushing back the boundaries of what was possible or acceptable. Throughout the 1960s the Royal Court regularly came into conflict with the Lord Chamberlain Office (the official censors of the London stage). Three plays were refused a license to be performed at all (Osborne’s A Patriot for Me and Edward Bond’s Saved and Early Morning). These battles led to the abolition of the Lord Chamberlain Office in 1968.”
Pimlico (not outer space). I walked past these buildings on my way home from a tour at Tate Britain (and thankfully beat the rain!).
Carnevale! Yupeng and I celebrated Italian-style, complete with a pizzica band (though this photo was taken in my flat).
Duck tour!
