Where I Live
Here’s a photo of my apartment building.
I thought school started this week, but I was wrong (or rather, the school’s website was) and so I have some free time. I’m reading La Bella Lingua: My Love Affair with Italian, the World’s Most Enchanting Language by Dianne Hales. So far, I love her exploration of the language’s history, as well as the Italian words she sprinkles in. According to her, a popular nickname for Americans is culoni: big butts. Hahaha! Other favorites so far: abbacare (to daydream); venticello (nice, little breeze); calduccio (nice and warm). Aaaaah.
